Do you have lots of days that seem like the same day?
Do you tend to do the same things over and over again?
It is easy to wonder if we are really making a difference, when we do the same things over and over.
Today I would like you to think about the word “same”.
“Same” gets a bad rep, because we like “new” “better” “different” and “variety”.
I know it’s hard to see the purpose in doing the same things over and over.
I want you to use your imagination for a minute. Imagine that your life’s purpose is a giant jigsaw puzzle. It has a million pieces. There is no way to know exactly what the picture will be. However, it was designed by God, so you know it’s going to be spectacular!
Everything you do, contributes another piece.
Here are some pieces of your puzzle:
Change a diaper.
Comfort a friend.
Cook a meal.
Talk to your teenager.
Do the laundry.
Help a customer.
Leave a tip.
Smile.
Hold a door.
Make the bed.
Pay the rent.
Wrap a present.
Recycle a can.
Go to baseball practice.
Feed the dog.
Say a kind word.
Each piece is important.
Everything you do is contributing to the ultimate purpose of your life.
You are not here by accident. Even if you don’t understand it, you have a purpose and you are right in the middle of it right now.
Every good thing comes from God. Even if it’s the same thing you did yesterday, it is still a part of your purpose.
Same is good.
Same means dependable.
Same means security.
Same means reliable.
Same means safety.
You are supplying these things for yourself and others.
Real faith has to do with repetition.
Pray again. Love again. Hope again.
Offer up the work of your hands to God and wash the dishes again, go to work again, help someone again.
What you see as routine, God sees as faithfulness.
The masterpiece called your life is coming together nicely.
You are doing a great job!
You are making a difference one small piece at a time.
Keep up the good work!
